Lilongwe is the capital city of Malawi and is situated on the Lilongwe River. In the heart of the capital city there is The Wildlife Centre which is Malawi’s only wildlife sanctuary and is open to visitors all year round. Every kwacha raised through visitors goes back into the sanctuary operations, providing a much-needed lifeline for orphaned and injured wild animals. There is an opportunity to take a guided sanctuary tour or walk of roughly 4km along the river and through the forest.
