The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is located in the middle of Botswana and covers a 52'800 square kilometres expanse of land making it the 2nd largest game reserve in the world, an area larger than Switzerland. Deception Valley, also known as the Letiahau Valley, is the best known and most accessible of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve's four fossil river valleys. There is no water in the valley, but the dry place in the heart of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve evokes the illusion of containing water. The valley became famous by the conservationists Mark and Delia Owens with their book "Cry of the Kalahari".
